6.1 Irrigation

8 to 10 days after transplanting less water is required (less than 1cm depth)

10 days after transplanting 2 to 5cm of water is required

6.2 Weeding

  • Weeding should be done regularly (3 to 5 times).
  • Weed control is very important especially during the first 15 to 20 days after transplanting.

6.3. Methods of controlling weeds

  • Weeds controlled during land preparation
  • Transplanting of rice into puddle soil
  • Flooding and water management
  • Mobilize sufficient water to the field
  • Hand, hole, machines weeding and herbicides

6.4.Fertilization

  • Basal dressing; apply 100kg of 23:21:0+4S in combination with 10Kg S/A per hectare at the time of transplanting or two-three weeks after emergence of the directly sown seed.
  • Top dressing; apply 100kg of Urea at 30 to 40 days after planting this promotes tillering.
